Composition Courses
Rebecca is the tutor of a highly successful course on Composing a New Musical, first run at Benslow Music Trust in April 2007.
Over a weekend residential course, members take part in composition workshops on songwriting, writing for theatre, lyric writing, melody writing, and analyse and discuss songs from shows. Following the workshops, a large-scale collaborative project get underway, with participants being given a script for a new musical, for which they each compose a song. After group, collaborative discussion, participants each have individual composition tutorials to discuss their individual song. The weekend ends with a final read and sing-through of the resulting musical.
